August 27, 2013–Hooray for Quiet Oaks

I just got off the phone with the admissions director of Quiet Oaks in Crawford. They have space, and she moves in on Friday!

I’m amazed. He (Chris) and I have talked several times and though I haven’t met him, he seems warm, kind, and accommodating. He hadn’t encouraged me–said there were 20 on his waiting list and Medicaid patients are usually down at the bottom because a facility gets less money for them than, say, a hospital discharge in for 20 days of rehab.

But QO has a long and close relationship with Whispering Pines. The mother and mother-in-law of one of their staff people were each there for years, and several former Whispering Pines residents are there now.

A huge flurry of activity in the next couple of days, but a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.  Details to come.

(who needs Burger King anyway??!!)
