The last several days have been good ones. She wanted to call her friend Al to thank him for the CD’s (“recordings”–she doesn’t know what a CD is) and did so clearly and with awareness.
Tonight she was seemingly lucid and calm. Mozart, the new boy, has decided that she is an excellent source of scratches. Apparently, only William gets “scritches.” Both dogs reveled in her attention. William even bestowed her the supreme compliment of bringing her his favorite toy to play tug-of-war.
During supper, she said, “I’ve been meaning to tell you. Out behind the folks’ garden I found some odd green bean plants that volunteered up. They don’t have any strings! I cooked a bunch of them, but there should be more by now. You should go get some before they’re gone.”
I thanked her for thinking of me, and tried to explain…never mind. It doesn’t matter. It’s the thought that counts.
