It had been more than a week since I had seen her. I had been down with a couple of ailments, though checking in with her by phone every other day.
I picked her up for church yesterday. She looked really nice. Lots of folks came up to speak with her and she enjoyed all the attention. We had a quick snack at the coffee hour.
By the time we got home, I knew I had ventured out too soon and desperately needed a nap. She said she hadn’t slept well the night before, so she retired to my famously comfortable sofa and I hit the hay for half an hour. When I got up, she was sleeping soundly so I let her be.
Finally about 4 p.m. I signaled William to jump on the sofa to wake her. He does that with great enthusiasm and lots of doggy kisses, much to her delight. Cut her fingernails and toenails, chatted through a light lunch/supper, and took her back about 5:30 p.m.
She has been having trouble remembering the name “Whispering Pines” (keeps saying Twelve Oaks”–no, Mother, that’s from Gone With The Wind!). I’d teased and quizzed her about it off and on all day, and by the time we got there, she remembered.
Don’t know how long it will last, though.
