May 16, 2011–Gigi’s birthday

Yesterday was Gigi’s 12th birthday.   I took the three dogs over to Whispering Pines.  Four or five of the ladies adore them, most can take them or leave them, and a few simply–leave them!  We sang some old popular songs (Wait ‘Till the Sun Shines Nelly, In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree, etc.–sheet music from the 1900’s – 1920’s that I’ve played since I was a teenager.)  Thank goodness no one was recording my singing.  But we were loud, raucous, and the dozen or so in the living room had a great time, as did I.  Mother’s favorite was “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”  We must have sung it four times!

Rachel and Gigi. Rachel and Mother are becoming quite friendly. She's about 75--born with all four fingers on each had fused together.

Maki is 14.5, Mother's favorite. He has the same heart problems she does. The discoloration on his front legs is from his licking his sore, arthritic joints, poor baby.

Emma ADORES William. He readily jumps into her lap. I sometimes have to protect him from being cuddled too much!

William is 7.5. Alice is 97. I am impressed by her quiet dignity.

Gigi is the most photogenic of any of us! Note the "candles."
